Preserving the Past, Igniting the Future of the San Antonio Fire Museum
The San Antonio Fire Museum Board, Volunteers and Staff are certain that this Museum is an important partner in the cultural and educational landscape of downtown San Antonio. We are excited about the potential to grow our programs and services by making the Museum a child friendly destination, providing children with a hands-on education in fire safety and fire service experiences. With your help, we can teach children and adults the science of fire and through our programs reduce the loss of life and property.
WHY THIS MUSEUM IS IMPORTANT
…On an average, a fire department responds to a fire somewhere in the United States every 21 seconds
In 2022, there were: 13,250 civilian fire injuries and 3,720 deaths(52% of all fire deaths are adults over 65 and children)
$18 billion in direct property damage
96 firefighters were killed in the line of duty
Most important, firefighters save hundreds to thousands of lives annually
The San Antonio Fire Museum is initiating a capital campaign to raise $8 million to provide:
Expand to a Hall of Heroes for fallen and active-duty firefighters
The current wall will be expanded to a hall, to suitably honor San Antonio Fire Department firefighters that died in the line of duty.
Provide ADA access to all floors and additional exhibit space
The project includes the installation of an elevator and expands exhibit space and space for community events by 35%.

Deliver interactive exhibits with modern technology
These exhibits will provide an educational experience for children and adults that demonstrates the science of fires, how they start, spread and can be controlled. Hands on interpretive experiences that provide insight into the work of firefighters.
Restore historical fire doors, headquarter offices, and living quarters
Replace critical infrastructure to improve operating efficiency.
Broaden our positive impact on the community through enhanced fire safety and science programs for schools and all visitors to remain safe and reduce the loss of life and property
A major educational destination for visitors that compliments the Alamo and anchors the Houston Street Cultural Corridor.
